Women from across Enugu State gathered in strong numbers for an event titled “Women Gather for Peter Mbah 2027,” declaring solidarity and endorsing the second-term ambition of Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah.

The program commenced at exactly 11:55 a.m. with an opening prayer led by Dr. Nkiru Onuorah. In her remarks, she acknowledged the presence of various women’s groups including Jesus Wives Enugu State, Resilient Widows, and Loudest Voices for Peter Mbah.

Dr. Onyinye Mamah was subsequently invited to the podium, where she recognized dignitaries in attendance, including Princess Dr. Edith Ugwuanyi and members of the Resilient Divine Women group. She commended the punctuality of the NCWS delegation, describing them as the most punctual group present and announcing a gift in their honor, noting her personal commitment to recognizing punctuality.

Dr. Mamah also acknowledged Enugu North as her in-laws and appreciated the presence of the Loudest Voices for Peter Mbah group. She highlighted the governor’s achievements, particularly in road construction, urban aesthetics, and infrastructural development, urging attendees to demonstrate massive support for his re-election bid.

The Master of Ceremonies further quoted Dr. Mamah as stating that she would support a woman for governor over a man because a woman would carry 20 other women along, emphasizing her advocacy for women’s leadership and inclusion.

Delivering the keynote address, Princess Dr. Edith Ugwuanyi described Dr. Mamah as a strong promoter of women’s voices. She recognized several groups including NCWC, Resilient Divine Women, and Enugu North Women.

Princess Ugwuanyi outlined her reasons for supporting Governor Mbah, citing his vision to position Enugu State for stronger foreign relations, reduce migration, and enhance the state’s global competitiveness. She characterized him as a visionary leader with servant-leadership qualities and called on women across the state to mobilize in support of his administration.

Princess Dr. Edith Ugwuanyi stood out as a formidable force and the driving engine behind the gathering, demonstrating her strength as a grassroots mobilizer and unwavering advocate for women’s political participation. Widely regarded as a powerful voice within community networks across Enugu State, she played a central role in rallying support, coordinating stakeholders, and articulating the vision behind the endorsement movement. Her strategic leadership and ability to galvanize women across diverse groups underscored her influence and reinforced the momentum behind the 2027 solidarity campaign.

Referencing global examples such as Abuja and America, she noted that transformational leadership may sometimes involve difficult decisions. She commended the administration’s investments in smart schools, healthcare infrastructure, and the establishment of Type 2 hospitals across the state. Drawing from her 35 years of nursing experience in the United States and her academic background in nursing, she explained that tax reforms were essential to sustaining government operations and delivering public services.

She also announced the formation of a grassroots mobilization group, “Governor Mbah’s Action Squad 2027,” inviting interested supporters to join.

According to the keynote speaker, the administration has delivered significant achievements within two years, focusing on education, healthcare, security, infrastructure, and inclusive governance. She referenced the construction of smart green schools, attraction of major investments and manufacturing facilities, dualization of major roads, establishment of motor parks, tourism development initiatives, and the acquisition of AI-enabled drones to enhance security.

Speaking at the event, Dame Elizabeth Nwamaka Ani, JP, Leader of the South East National Council of Women Societies (NCWS), declared that women would vote en masse for Governor Mbah in 2027, insisting there would be “no vacancy” at the Government House. She stated that NCWS possesses the population strength and mobilization capacity required to secure victory and pledged full support for a second tenure.

She emphasized the importance of sustaining ongoing reforms, particularly the monitoring of over 260 smart schools, and called on women to mobilize their families and communities in support of the governor.

Hon. Princess Obiajulu, represented by her Personal Assistant, Stephanie Ani, also conveyed strong support for the governor’s re-election, reiterating her commitment to women empowerment and describing women as a driving force in societal development.
