...Commends Hon. Dr. Chinedu Mbah's Grassroots Leadership, Says G-17 Has the Structure to Deliver APC Top-to-Bottom
Political activities gathered momentum in Igbo-Etiti Local Government Area on Friday, July 10, 2026, as the G-17 For Peter Mbah inaugurated its Local Government Executives, Ward Executives and Polling Unit Canvassers at the Igbo-Etiti Local Government Council Secretariat amid an impressive gathering of political stakeholders, traditional leaders, women, youths and party faithful from across the twenty political wards of the council.
Welcoming the G-17 delegation, the Executive Chairman of Igbo-Etiti Local Government Area, Dr. Eric Odo, warmly received the movement and applauded its leadership under the Convener, Board of Trustees Chairman and Director-General, Hon. Dr. Chinedu Mbah, whom he described as "my friend and a political bulldozer."
"What I have seen today is amazing. These are not the usual faces you see around political activities. These are genuine grassroots men and women. G-17 has demonstrated that it possesses the structure, manpower and capacity to deliver candidates during elections," the chairman declared.
Dr. Odo said the numerous developmental projects executed by Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah across Igbo-Etiti would guarantee a landslide victory for the Governor and all APC candidates.
"Governor Peter Mbah will win before noon in Igbo-Etiti. Ndi Enugu will reward him massively for his outstanding performance. Every stakeholder in Igbo-Etiti is solidly behind Governor Peter Mbah and the APC," he stated.
The council chairman further assured the movement of his continued support, noting that even after handing over to the next council chairman following the September local government election, he would remain committed to working with G-17 to ensure the victory of Governor Peter Mbah, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and all APC candidates in 2027.
"I will continue supporting G-17 while in office and even after leaving office. This structure deserves encouragement. I also appeal that Governor Peter Mbah should remember the G-17 leadership and members who are making sacrifices across the grassroots today," he added.
Dr. Odo equally pledged maximum support to his successor, assuring that the transition would strengthen the party's mobilisation efforts.
Speaking on behalf of the Senator representing Enugu North Senatorial District, Distinguished Senator Ikeje Asogwa, his Special Assistant, Hon. Chief Ogbonna Idike, conveyed the senator's goodwill to the gathering.
He explained that Senator Asogwa had wished to attend personally but was unavoidably engaged elsewhere.
"The Senator specifically instructed me to tell G-17 that he is fully with you. He knows the history and capacity of G-17 and appreciates the remarkable work you are doing. Upon his return, he has requested a meeting with the leadership of G-17 in Enugu North Senatorial District because he believes that with G-17, election victory is assured," he said.
The Provost of Enugu State College of Health Technology, Oji River, Prof. Lazarus Ezeugwu, reiterated his earlier position that Governor Peter Mbah is truly a "talk-and-do governor."
"When Governor Peter Mbah visited our institution, he fulfilled every promise he made. I remain a living witness to his sincerity and commitment. I urge the people of Igbo-Etiti to rally behind Governor Peter Mbah. Admissions into the College of Health Technology are currently ongoing, and our institution continues to enjoy unprecedented government support," he stated.
Also speaking through his representative, Hon. Hillary Uchenna Odo, the former Speaker of the Enugu State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Chief Eugene Odo, commended the statewide expansion of G-17.
"G-17 is undoubtedly the number one political support group in Enugu State today. From what I have seen, the 2027 election will simply be a walkover for APC because this movement has taken grassroots mobilisation to another level," he remarked.
The Permanent Secretary, Post Primary Schools Management Board (PPSMB), Hon. Engr. Remigius Ezeh, who also served as a former Coordinator of G-17 in Igbo-Etiti, described the organisation as a platform that rewards dedication and loyalty.
"I stand here as a practical example of what G-17 can produce. I served faithfully as Coordinator of G-17 in Igbo-Etiti, and today I am serving as a Permanent Secretary. There are enormous rewards for sincere service within this movement," he said.
The APC Deputy State Women Leader, Hon. Ugwuefi Esther, applauded the grassroots strength of G-17 and pledged to mobilise women across Igbo-Etiti in support of Governor Peter Mbah and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
"The women are fully prepared. We shall work hand-in-hand with G-17 to ensure overwhelming victory for APC in 2027 because women remain major beneficiaries of this administration," she stated.
The APC Chairman of Igbo-Etiti Local Government Area, Hon. Paul Okoroike, described G-17 as one of the most vibrant grassroots mobilisation structures in Enugu State.
"G-17 has already made our work easier. The calibre of executives inaugurated today are not the usual faces we see at party meetings. They are fresh grassroots mobilisers, and they have become a valuable addition to our existing party structure. We shall work closely with them," he assured.
Earlier, the Leader of the Igbo-Etiti Legislative Council, Hon. Stephen Okwu, welcomed the leadership of G-17 to the council and commended the movement for deepening grassroots political participation across the local government.
Also present at the event were the Secretary to the Local Government Chairman, Rt. Hon. Arch. James Akadu, and the Special Personal Assistant on Political Matters to the Chairman, Hon. Ngwu Callistus, who both commended the expansion of G-17 across the local government and pledged continued collaboration.
Speaking on behalf of the youths, the State Youth Leader of G-17, Hon. Nnamdi Odoh, urged young people across Igbo-Etiti to prepare for massive mobilisation ahead of the 2027 elections.
He stressed that Governor Peter Mbah's achievements across Enugu State had made it impossible for the opposition to deceive the youths again.
In her address, the National Women Leader of G-17 For Peter Mbah, Hon. Princess Chinelo Ogbata Ejorh, encouraged women to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and continue supporting Governor Peter Mbah.
She noted that women and children remain among the greatest beneficiaries of the administration through free education in Smart Green Schools and improved maternal healthcare services at the Type-C Primary Healthcare Centres.
Also speaking, the Secretary-General of G-17 For Peter Mbah, Hon. Chidi Eze, commended the unwavering commitment of Igbo-Etiti stakeholders and urged the newly inaugurated executives to justify the confidence reposed in them through aggressive grassroots mobilisation.
Delivering his keynote address, the Convener, Board of Trustees Chairman and Director-General of G-17 For Peter Mbah, Hon. Dr. Chinedu Mbah, expressed profound appreciation to Dr. Eric Odo for providing an enabling environment for the successful inauguration.
He commended the chairman for the remarkable transformation of Igbo-Etiti, noting that the local government had witnessed significant development since his last visit.
"The last time I visited Igbo-Etiti, it was not in this condition. Today, the transformation is obvious. It clearly shows that Dr. Eric Odo is following in the footsteps of Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah," he said.
Hon. Dr. Mbah particularly praised the chairman's social welfare initiatives, including the monthly support being provided to over 2,500 widows, financial assistance to more than 500 persons living with disabilities, the construction of houses for widows and the provision of water boreholes across the twenty political wards.
He reminded the people that Igbo-Etiti remains one of the major beneficiaries of Governor Peter Mbah's administration through the construction of 20 Smart Green Schools, 20 fully equipped Type-C Primary Healthcare Centres, road infrastructure and other developmental projects.
The Director-General also highlighted Governor Mbah's role in facilitating the appointment of Prof. Simon Ortuanya as the first indigenous Vice-Chancellor of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), as well as the ongoing federal dualisation of the Obollo Afor–Opi–9th Mile Road under the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Congratulating the newly inaugurated executives, Hon. Dr. Mbah reminded them that their inauguration was not merely ceremonial but a call to service.
"Congratulations to all of you. You are already converted; your assignment now is to move from door to door, ward to ward and polling unit to polling unit, telling our people about the achievements of Governor Peter Mbah and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Let the grassroots hear the message because victory begins from the polling units," he charged.
The event further strengthened G-17's statewide grassroots mobilisation campaign and witnessed overwhelming endorsements from political leaders and stakeholders across Igbo-Etiti, all pledging to work with the movement to deliver Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and all APC candidates in the 2027 general elections.
Unlike conventional support groups, G-17 For Peter Mbah operates as a disciplined grassroots political structure whose members are carefully selected, sworn into office and required to possess valid Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs). The movement continues to distinguish itself through its unique ward-to-ward and polling-unit mobilisation strategy across the 17 Local Government Areas of Enugu State.
