Nsukka Stakeholders Back G-17's Grassroots Mobilisation Drive, Declare "The Structure Is Ready, Victory Is Certain!"

The G-17 For Peter Mbah, on Monday, 6th of July 2026, stormed Nsukka Local Government Area with another massive grassroots mobilisation exercise, inaugurating its Local Government Executives, Ward Executives and Polling Unit Canvassers at the Nsukka Local Government Council Secretariat.

The colourful ceremony attracted an unprecedented gathering of political leaders, party faithful, community stakeholders, traditional leaders, women, youths and grassroots mobilisers from the twenty political wards of the council area, further consolidating G-17's reputation as one of the most formidable grassroots political movements in Enugu State.

Unlike conventional support groups, G-17 maintains an organic structure made up of committed grassroots mobilisers who are not political appointees or members of multiple support groups. Every member undergoes a formal oath of office and must be a registered voter with a valid Permanent Voter Card (PVC), making the movement a disciplined political mobilisation platform with structures extending from the local government level to the polling units.

Welcoming the high-powered delegation of G-17, the Executive Chairman of Nsukka Local Government Area, Engr. Jude Chinedu Asogwa, described the movement as the most organised and grassroots-oriented political support group he has encountered.

He noted that although several support groups had approached him over the years, G-17 distinguished itself through its unique structure, discipline and widespread grassroots acceptance.

"I have led a support group before, so I understand what political mobilisation entails. But G-17 is different; it has panache, structure and genuine grassroots presence. That is why I have chosen to associate with this movement," he declared.

The chairman formally signed the G-17 Endorsement Register presented by the Convener, Board of Trustees Chairman and Director-General of G-17 For Peter Mbah, Hon. Dr. Chinedu Mbah, reaffirming his unwavering support for the re-election of Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah.

Declaring that "Peter Mbah is Nsukka and Nsukka is Peter Mbah," Engr. Asogwa assured the gathering that Nsukka Local Government would work hand-in-hand with G-17 to ensure victory for Governor Peter Mbah, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and all APC candidates in the 2027 general elections.

"It is time for Nsukka people to pay back the Governor for the unprecedented development he has brought to our land. Governor Peter Mbah's re-election is not negotiable in Nsukka," he stated.

Also speaking, the Member representing Nsukka West Constituency in the Enugu State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mike Onyechi, said he had never witnessed a support group with the depth, organisation and grassroots penetration displayed by G-17.

"With what I have seen here today, the 2027 election is already a walkover. Every political stakeholder would naturally want to identify with G-17 because this structure has what it takes to deliver victory," he said.

He further disclosed that he would engage his colleague representing Nsukka East Constituency to ensure both constituencies work closely with G-17 ahead of the elections.

Addressing the newly inaugurated executives, he reminded them that hard work never goes unrewarded.

"There is always a reward for every good work. Go back to your wards and justify the confidence reposed in you," he charged.

Representing the Commissioner for Health, Prof. George Ugwu, Hon. Ugwuanyi Onyinyechi described G-17 as a household name in Enugu State whose credibility has continued to attract genuine political stakeholders.

"Any serious politician who desires electoral success will naturally identify with G-17. I am proud to associate with this movement and will support its activities," he stated.

Speaking on behalf of the national leadership of the organisation, the Secretary-General of G-17 For Peter Mbah, Hon. Chidi Eze, said he joined the movement because of its proven capacity to deliver electoral victories through genuine grassroots mobilisation.

He called on the people of Nsukka to embrace the organisation and support its programmes.

"The Governor has transformed Nsukka Zone beyond expectations. With what Governor Peter Mbah has done here, he deserves nothing less than one hundred percent support from the people," he remarked.

In her address, the National Women Leader of G-17 For Peter Mbah, Hon. Princess Chinelo Ogbata Ejorh, urged women across Nsukka to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards and prepare to participate actively in the forthcoming elections.

She noted that she shares a special bond with Nsukka, having studied in the area.

"I schooled in Nsukka, so I am part of Nsukka. I know that when Nsukka people say yes, they truly mean yes. Governor Peter Mbah's Smart Green Schools, where children receive quality education, and the Type-C Primary Healthcare Centres providing free maternal healthcare are enough reasons for our women to support continuity," she said.

Delivering his keynote address, the Convener, Board of Trustees Chairman and Director-General of G-17 For Peter Mbah, Hon. Dr. Chinedu Mbah, thanked the Executive Chairman of Nsukka Local Government Area for creating a conducive environment that ensured the successful inauguration of the G-17 structure.

He commended Engr. Jude Asogwa for his developmental strides in the local government, particularly in road infrastructure, rural electrification through transformer distribution, youth empowerment initiatives, payment of youth leaders, and the deployment of ten vigilantes to every community to strengthen grassroots security.

"What I have seen here today shows that the Chairman is faithfully following the footsteps of Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah. Development is visible, leadership is purposeful, and the people are benefiting," he stated.

Hon. Dr. Mbah congratulated the newly inaugurated executives and reminded them that their inauguration marked the beginning of greater responsibility.

"This is not merely a ceremony; it is a call to service. From today, your duty is to move from house to house, community to community and polling unit to polling unit, educating our people on the achievements of Governor Peter Mbah and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu," he charged.

Highlighting Governor Mbah's achievements in Nsukka, the Director-General disclosed that the local government has benefited from 21 Smart Green Schools, 20 fully equipped Type-C Primary Healthcare Centres, several ongoing road projects, and massive infrastructure development.

He also cited the ongoing Abakpa–Ugwogo–Opi dual carriageway, describing it as one of the most significant road projects in the history of Nsukka Zone.

Hon. Dr. Mbah further commended Governor Mbah and President Tinubu for facilitating the emergence of Prof. Polycarp Emeka Chigbu Ortuanya as the first indigenous Vice-Chancellor of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, since the institution was established in the 1960s.

He equally applauded the Federal Government under President Tinubu for the rehabilitation of the Opi–9th Mile Road, describing it as another strategic intervention benefiting Nsukka people. "Nobody should deceive Ndi Nsukka in 2027. The evidence is everywhere. Governor Peter Mbah and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu have demonstrated uncommon commitment to the development of Nsukka. The only appropriate response is to reward performance with overwhelming votes," he declared.

He urged the newly inaugurated executives to immediately commence aggressive grassroots sensitisation and political education across the twenty political wards, stressing that G-17 remains committed to delivering all APC candidates from the Presidency to the councillorship positions.

The event concluded with the inauguration of the Local Government Executives, Ward Executives and Polling Unit Canvassers of G-17 For Peter Mbah, who collectively pledged to sustain intensive grassroots mobilisation and ensure the successful re-election of Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and all APC candidates in the 2027 general elections.
