Mrs. Edeh made the statement on Tuesday as Nkanu East prepares to join women from across the state for the 2026 August Meeting, themed “The Resilient Woman.”
She said the choice of the theme was timely and reflective of the remarkable courage and determination with which women continue to navigate challenges, nurture families, build communities and contribute meaningfully to the progress of Enugu State.

«“Nkanu East warmly welcomes Ndi Enugu to this year’s August Meeting. We are delighted to be part of a celebration that reminds us of the beauty of our unity, the richness of our culture and the extraordinary strength of our women. This is more than a gathering; it is a moment for us to reconnect, celebrate one another and renew the bonds that make us one people.”»
Mrs. Edeh emphasized that the resilience of women should not only be celebrated in words but also recognised through meaningful support, opportunities and platforms that enable them to thrive.
She encouraged women across Nkanu East and Enugu State to participate actively in the 2026 celebration, describing it as an opportunity to share experiences, showcase talents, promote enterprise and draw inspiration from one another.
She further called on families, community leaders and stakeholders to continue supporting women and creating an environment where they can contribute even more effectively to the development of their communities.
«“The resilient woman is the woman who keeps hope alive, rises above challenges, strengthens her family and remains committed to the progress of her community. As we gather this August, let us celebrate that spirit and remind every woman that her contribution matters and her voice counts.”»
The Wife of the Nkanu East Local Government Chairman also commended the organisers of the 2026 Enugu Women’s August Meeting for sustaining a tradition that brings women together across political, social and community lines.
She expressed confidence that this year’s edition would be a memorable celebration of culture, friendship, resilience and the collective strength of Enugu women.
The 2026 Enugu Women’s August Meeting will hold on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at Okpara Square, Independence Layout, Enugu, from 10:00 a.m.
