‘Students Are Partners in Nation-Building Today’ — Asefon Reaffirms Tinubu’s Youth Agenda, During Renewed Hope Students' Engagement, North Central Edition In Lafia

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Students' Engagements, Com. Sunday Asefon, has assured Nigerian students and youths of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's readiness to imbue them with skills and technological innovations that will  create jobs and wealth as well as earn them global competitiveness.

Asefon said President Tinubu recognises the fact that  digital revolution is transforming the world and taking the centre stage globally, and that Nigeria as the giant of Africa, and largest economy in the Continent, won't shirk  its responsibility to create enabling environment for students to achieve practical experiences for economic survival.

The presidential aide spoke on Friday, at the North Central Zone Renewed Hope Students' Leaders' Engagement and Digital Acceleration Programme  held at Lafia, Nasarawa State Capital.

The former President, National Association of Nigeria Students, averred that President Tinubu was well apprised with the global trend that Artificial Intelligence, data analytics, cybersecurity, software development, digital marketing and emerging technologies are creating unprecedented opportunities for young people and that his government was keying quickly into this lofty initiative. 

Asefon was emphatic that the  programme reflects the unwavering commitment of President Tinubu's administration, to investing hugely in Nigerian students and preparing them for leadership, innovation, entrepreneurship, and the digital economy.

He added that the much publicised Renewed Hope Agenda being championed by the All Progressives Congress -led administration at the federal cadre was not oblivious of the fact that the future of the  nation depends on the quality, capacity, and resilience of its young people, and won't toy with actions that will.make them economically conscious and  innovative . 

"As students, you are not only leaders of tomorrow but active partners in nation-building today. Through this engagement, we seek to strengthen the relationship between government and students while providing practical digital skills and opportunities that will position you to compete globally.

"This is why our office continues to champion initiatives that expose students to emerging technologies, digital entrepreneurship, innovation, and leadership development. We want every Nigerian student to become a creator of opportunities, not just a seeker of opportunities.

"I encourage every participant to take full advantage of the engagement sessions, interactive discussions, and networking opportunities available today. 

"Let this programme inspire you to become ambassadors of innovation, peace, unity, and national development across your various campuses. As student leaders, your responsibility goes beyond representation. You must promote excellence, uphold integrity, encourage dialogue, and foster peaceful coexistence within your institutions and communities", Asefon said.

Asefon  reaffirmed President Tinubu's commitment to continually engaging Nigerian students, listening to their  aspirations, and creating platforms that empower them academically, economically and  socially.

He said: "Together, let us build a generation of digitally empowered, innovative, and patriotic young Nigerians who will drive the Renewed Hope Agenda and contribute meaningfully to the growth and prosperity of our nation".

High profile figures at the event were:  the Minister of Education, Dr Tunji Alausa,  who was represented by Director University Education, Dr Kareem Olawale Lateef, Minister of Youth, Com Ayodele Olawande, represented by the Chief of staff, Muhammad Abdullah, the Vice Chancellor, Federal University Lafia,  Prof Muhammad Yisa kida, Managing Director of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund, (NELFUND) Mr Akintunde sawyerr, and  Representatives of Vice Chancellors, University of Abuja and University Lokoja, as well as  Deans, Students' affairs, among others.
