The State Publicity Secretary of G-17 for Peter Mbah, Hon. Prince Charles Uzochukwu (Onodugo na Mgbidi Ancient Kingdom), has strongly dismissed allegations by Faceless Individuals in the guise of FALCON Media linking the organisation to cult groups, local security structures or any purported plan to disrupt the 2027 general elections, describing the claims as politically motivated attempts to distract the movement from its grassroots mobilisation activities.

Uzochukwu stated categorically that G-17 is not a cult group but a CAC-registered grassroots mobilisation force made up of reputable and organic men and women who are highly respected in their various communities.

According to him, G-17 operates openly as a political mobilisation platform and has built a reputation for mobilising support for candidates and political causes across the grassroots.

“G-17 is not a cult group. It is a CAC-registered grassroots mobilisation force made up of reputable, responsible and organic men and women who are highly respected in society.

“We are operating openly. Our activities are known. Our members are known. Our leadership is known. There is therefore nothing clandestine about G-17,” he said.

The G-17 spokesman said the movement has a clear political objective ahead of the 2027 elections and would not allow what he described as unfounded allegations to distract its members from that mission.

“We are committed to the re-election of His Excellency, Governor Peter Mbah, and the election of all APC candidates come 2027. That is our focus, and the opposition should not distract us,” Uzochukwu declared.

He said G-17 would continue to take its mobilisation campaign to the grassroots, insisting that political organisations should be judged by their activities, programmes and democratic engagement rather than by allegations unsupported by credible evidence.

Uzochukwu also explained why, according to him, Governor Mbah has attracted significant political support ahead of the 2027 election.

He pointed to what he described as the Governor’s “track records”.a reference to the administration’s agricultural mechanisation and tractor-related initiatives as part of the reasons behind the strong grassroots support for his re-election.

“The reason Governor Peter Mbah was adopted as a sole candidate for 2027 is because of his track records and the impact his administration is making across the state. People are seeing what is happening. The grassroots are seeing it,” he said.

He maintained that the adoption of Governor Mbah as a sole candidate should therefore be understood within the context of political support for his performance and the confidence expressed by party stakeholders, rather than being misrepresented as evidence of an attempt to undermine democratic competition.

For G-17, he said, the 2027 election is fundamentally about presenting the achievements of the administration to the electorate and allowing voters to make their choice at the ballot box.

“G-17 has delivered many governors. This is a movement with a history of grassroots mobilisation. Our strength is the people, not violence.

“We mobilise. We engage. We persuade. We educate our people politically and take our message to the grassroots. That is the essence of political mobilisation,” he stated.

Uzochukwu further rejected attempts to portray G-17’s grassroots structures as security formations, stressing that political mobilisation and security operations are entirely different responsibilities.

“Because we have structures at the grassroots does not mean we are a security organisation. Because we have coordinators across communities does not mean we are planning violence.

“Political mobilisation and security operations are two completely different things.”

Reacting to the timing of the allegations, the G-17 spokesman said it was curious that opposition elements were already raising alarm over the 2027 election despite the election itself still being ahead.

“The election has not even reached and the opposition is already crying. Instead of wasting their time trying to distract G-17, they should go to the people, build their own structures and convince the electorate,” he said.

He challenged opposition parties and political groups to focus on presenting their programmes and records to the people rather than what he described as the circulation of fake news.

“If they believe in their popularity, let them go to the grassroots, engage the people, present their programmes and convince voters.

“The ballot box is where political strength is tested, not through fabricated allegations, fearmongering or social-media propaganda.”

Uzochukwu also challenged anyone who has credible evidence of criminal activity involving G-17 to present such evidence to the appropriate security authorities instead of making sweeping allegations against the entire organisation.

“If anybody has evidence that G-17 is involved in criminal activity, let them take that evidence to the police or any appropriate security agency.

“But they should stop making wild allegations and using the name of G-17 to create unnecessary panic. We have nothing to hide,” he declared.

He further cautioned against automatically associating allegations involving individual persons with the entire G-17 organisation without credible evidence establishing such a connection.

According to him, G-17 remains committed to peaceful democratic participation and will continue to mobilise support for Governor Peter Mbah and other APC candidates ahead of the 2027 elections.

“Our weapon is mobilisation. Our instrument is persuasion. Our destination is the ballot box,” he said.

He called on opposition political parties to concentrate on their own political campaigns and allow G-17 to carry out its legitimate mobilisation activities.

“Opposition should not distract us. We know what we are doing. We are focused on the re-election of Governor Peter Mbah and the success of all APC candidates in 2027.

“Let everybody go to the people. Let everybody campaign. Let everybody present their records and programmes. At the end of the day, the people will decide at the ballot box.”

Uzochukwu described the attempt to label G-17 a cult group as a serious misrepresentation capable of unfairly damaging the reputation of thousands of people participating in legitimate political activities.

He reiterated that G-17 would continue to operate peacefully, openly and within the law while strengthening its grassroots structures across Enugu State.

“Those who are afraid of our grassroots strength should build their own. They should not criminalise ours.

“The election is not war. It is a contest of ideas, records, structures and popular support. We are ready for that contest, and we will meet the people at4 the ballot box.”
