Anambra Students, College Management Hail Tinubu for NELFUND Support

Anambra State has recorded another milestone in the Federal Government’s drive to expand access to higher education, as the management of the Federal College of Education (Technical), Umunze, and beneficiaries of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) student-loan scheme have hailed the intervention for providing financial relief to students and their families.

The commendation follows the disbursement of ₦3,179,000 to 22 students of the institution for the 2025/2026 academic session, reinforcing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to reducing financial barriers to tertiary education through the student-loan initiative.

The college formally acknowledged receipt of the funds in a letter dated July 31, 2026, confirming that the payment was released on July 23, 2026, under the sixth batch of NELFUND student-loan disbursements.

In its acknowledgement, the institution expressed appreciation to NELFUND for extending the programme to its students, describing the intervention as a significant step towards easing the financial pressure on parents and guardians struggling to meet the cost of higher education.

The management noted that the scheme would help reduce the burden associated with financing students’ education while promoting broader access to quality tertiary education across Nigeria.

The college also commended NELFUND’s leadership and staff for their continued commitment to transparency, efficiency and effective administration of the student-loan programme.

The latest disbursement covers statutory institutional charges for the 22 verified beneficiaries, enabling them to meet their financial obligations to the college with reduced pressure on their families.

For the beneficiaries, the support represents more than a financial transaction; it offers renewed hope, greater stability and an opportunity to concentrate on their academic pursuits without the weight of education-related expenses becoming an overwhelming obstacle.

The development further highlights the expanding reach of the Federal Government’s student-loan initiative, which is designed to ensure that financial constraints do not prevent eligible Nigerians from pursuing higher education.

Under the leadership of President Tinubu, NELFUND has continued to serve as a key instrument in the administration’s efforts to make tertiary education more accessible by supporting eligible students with funding for approved educational expenses.

The latest intervention at the Federal College of Education (Technical), Umunze, therefore, underscores the importance of sustained collaboration between the Federal Government, NELFUND and tertiary institutions in advancing educational opportunities and supporting the aspirations of Nigerian students.

With 22 students benefiting from the latest payment, the programme offers a practical demonstration of how targeted educational financing can ease household pressure, strengthen student retention and give more young Nigerians the opportunity to pursue their academic ambitions.
