…Mbah appoints Enugu Air Chairman Richard Agu as Commissioner-Designate

ENUGU — Governor of Enugu State, His Excellency, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, has appointed Barr. Richard Agu, Chairman of the Board of Enugu Air, as Commissioner-Designate for the Enugu State Ministry of Transport.

The appointment was announced in a Public Service Announcement issued by the Office of the Secretary to the Enugu State Government and signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, on October 7, 2026.

According to the statement, Governor Mbah approved Agu’s appointment and has forwarded his name to the Enugu State House of Assembly for the mandatory screening and confirmation in accordance with the law.

The statement reads: “The Governor of Enugu State, His Excellency, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, has approved the appointment of Barr. Richard Agu, Chairman of the Board of Enugu Air, as Commissioner-Designate for the Enugu State Ministry of Transport.”

It added: “In accordance with the provisions of the law, his name has been forwarded to the Enugu State House of Assembly for screening and confirmation.”

Agu’s nomination comes against the backdrop of ongoing developments in Enugu’s transportation and connectivity sectors, with the ministry expected to play a key role in transportation policy and administration across the state.

His experience as Chairman of the Board of Enugu Air also places him within the state’s evolving aviation and transportation ecosystem.

The appointment, however, remains subject to the completion of the screening and confirmation process by the Enugu State House of Assembly.

The development marks the latest appointment by the Mbah administration as it continues to constitute and strengthen its administrative structure across key sectors of the state.
