JUST-IN: FG Slams 3-Month Suspension on Max Air After Kano Incident

The Federal Government, through the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), has announced a three-month suspension of Max Air’s operations following an incident involving one of its aircraft in Kano. The aircraft, a Max Air B734 with registration 5N-MBD, experienced a tyre burst during landing at Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport on January 28, 2025.

Fortunately, all 53 passengers onboard were safely evacuated, and the aircraft was temporarily closed off. The runway was reopened by the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) by 8:00 AM the following morning.

This marks the third incident involving Max Air in just three months. In response, the NCAA will conduct a thorough safety and economic audit of the airline during the suspension period. The audit will assess Max Air’s operations, personnel, and financial health to ensure its ability to continue safe operations. Max Air’s domestic flight operations will only resume once the audit is completed satisfactorily.

The NCAA acknowledged the potential inconvenience this may cause passengers but emphasized that passenger safety remains the top priority.
