Police Rescue Six-Month-Old Baby from Kidnappers in FCT:

The Niger State Police Command has successfully rescued a six-month-old baby who had been kidnapped by her cousin and taken to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to be sold.

The incident occurred last Saturday in the Kwamba area of Suleja.

According to reports, the baby’s mother had asked her cousin, Joy Nuwa, to look after the child while she went out on an errand. However, Nuwa, along with some neighbors, took the baby to Kubwa, Abuja, intending to sell her.

The plot was foiled when the baby was reported missing to the police. After conducting an investigation, the police were able to locate and rescue the baby, returning her to her mother.

Police spokesperson Wasiu Abiodun confirmed the rescue in a statement on Friday. He stated that all the suspects involved in the kidnapping have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation and prosecution.

According to Abiodun, on January 25, 2025, at about 9:00 am, police operatives attached to Maje Division arrested four suspects: Joy Nuwa (20), Favour James (25), Ezekiel Emmanuel (30), and Patience Obana (23).

The events unfolded on January 24, 2025, when the baby's mother, who resides in Kwamba, Suleja, reported her baby as missing. She had left the six-month-old child with her cousin, Joy Nuwa, but upon returning, both Joy and the baby were gone. Joy later claimed that she had left the baby at home and locked the door, but there was no sign of a break-in.

Further investigation led to questioning neighbors, including Emmanuel Ezekiel and Favour James, who were eventually arrested. Emmanuel confessed that the kidnapping had been planned with Joy, and the baby was taken to Patience Obana in Kubwa, Abuja, to arrange for her sale.

With Emmanuel’s help, Joy, Favour, and Patience were arrested, and the baby was safely rescued. All suspects have been handed over to the SCID Minna for further legal proceedings.
