FGC Enugu Unveils Historic Security Outfit, Invites General Public to Grand Commissioning of Ultra-Modern Pavilion, Foundation-Laying



Federal Government College (FGC) Enugu is set to record a historic milestone with the official unveiling of a dedicated security outfit by the Parents and Teachers Association (PTA), a first-of-its-kind initiative in the history of the college. The security outfit, championed by the PTA Chairman, Hon. Dr. Chinedu Mba (Dike Eji Eje Mba Na Enugu), is designed to safeguard students, curb bullying, and proactively combat social vices within and around the school environment.

The landmark unveiling will take place on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at the premises of FGC Enugu, alongside the commissioning of an ultra-modern pavilion and the foundation-laying ceremony for new staff quarters. The event is expected to attract government officials, traditional rulers, religious leaders, education stakeholders, parents, alumni, and members of the general public.

The introduction of the security outfit is a direct response to the 2024 bullying incident that shook the school community. Following that incident, Hon. Dr. Chinedu Mba had publicly pledged decisive action to strengthen student protection and restore confidence in the school’s internal safety architecture. True to his word, the unveiling of this security outfit marks a bold and proactive fulfillment of that promise, setting a new standard for student welfare in Unity Schools across Nigeria.

Education stakeholders have described the initiative as a historic feat, noting that never before has such a structured, PTA-driven security intervention been implemented at FGC Enugu. The outfit is expected to work in synergy with school authorities to monitor student activities, prevent bullying, deter social vices, and ensure a safer, more disciplined learning environment.

Beyond security, the day will also showcase other transformative projects driven by the current PTA leadership, including the commissioning of an ultra-modern pavilion and the commencement of staff quarters construction, further underscoring a holistic approach to welfare, discipline, and infrastructural development.

The Chairman of the Occasion is the Executive Chairman of Enugu North Local Government Area, Hon. Dr. Ibenaku Onoh, while the Honourable Minister of State for Education, Dr. Suwaiba Said Ahmad, will serve as Special Guest of Honour. The Executive Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, is expected as Guest of Honour, highlighting the strong alignment between federal, state, and community stakeholders in strengthening education.

Spiritual and traditional blessings will be offered by the Bishop of Enugu Anglican Communion, Rt. Rev. Prof. Obiajulu Ike, as Spiritual Father of the Day, and HRM Igwe Ikechukwu Samuel Asadu (Ogadagidi), Chairman of the Enugu State Council of Traditional Rulers, as Royal Father of the Day.

The Director/Principal of FGC Enugu, Mr. Ezekiel Onyeka Ogbuanya, will serve as Chief Host, while the PTA Chairman, Hon. Dr. Chinedu Mba, will host the event.

Observers say the unveiling of the security outfit represents a defining chapter in the history of FGC Enugu one that prioritizes student safety, discipline, and moral guidance, while sending a clear message that bullying and social vices will find no refuge within the school.

Saturday’s event is therefore not just a ceremony, but a powerful statement of commitment to protecting young minds and securing the future of education at Federal Government College, Enugu.
