News-Flash! Enugu Woman Leader, City Boy Movement Hits the Ground Running, Sets Up Grassroots Mobilisation Structures
The Enugu State Women Wing of the City Boy Movement has officially commenced grassroots mobilisation activities following a strategic maiden stakeholders’ meeting held in the state.
The meeting, which brought together zonal, local government, and ward women leaders of the movement, marked the operational take-off of the women’s structure in Enugu State. The gathering was convened and led by the State Women Leader, Amaka Nweke, as the group begins preparations for the national inauguration of the movement and the build-up to the 2027 political cycle.
During the strategic session, the women’s wing unveiled its grassroots mobilisation framework designed to coordinate women’s structures across the state. The framework includes leadership structures at the state, zonal, local government, ward, and polling unit levels in line with directives from the national leadership of the movement.
The newly leadership structures are expected to coordinate mobilisation of women for civic participation, political education, and advocacy engagements that strengthen women’s involvement in governance and leadership.
According to the mandate issued by the national leadership of the movement, the women’s wing will also identify and mentor emerging female leaders within the state, maintain accurate membership records, organise meetings and outreach programmes, submit periodic reports to the zonal leadership, and uphold the discipline and values of the organisation.
Speaking during the meeting, Ambassador Nweke described the formation of the structures as a major step toward strengthening grassroots engagement among women across the state.
“We are aligning with the national guidelines of the City Boy Movement to ensure that our women structures are fully operational at the grassroots. From the state to the polling units, our goal is to mobilise, educate, and empower women while promoting the ideals of the movement,” she stated.
The meeting also confirmed the appointment of Ola Ngwa as Director of Strategic Planning for the Enugu State Women Wing.
Key participants at the gathering included the Deputy State Women Leader, Onyinye Okpalamma, alongside the three zonal women leaders representing the senatorial districts and other women stakeholders.
Among them were Ifenna Onoh, who also serves as Zonal Women Leader for Enugu West Senatorial Zone; Ngozi Ozioko, representing Enugu North Senatorial Zone; and Nneka May Ike, among other prominent women leaders in the state.
As part of the meeting’s outcomes, local government, ward, and polling unit women leaders were constituted across the state, completing the first phase of the organisational framework designed to drive the activities of the movement at the grassroots.
Ambassador Nweke also expressed appreciation to the national leadership of the movement for their strategic guidance and support for youth and women mobilisation across the country.
She particularly acknowledged the Grand Patron of the movement and President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for his Renewed Hope leadership agenda, as well as the Patron of the movement, Seyi Tinubu, for his continued encouragement of grassroots mobilisation.
The State Women Leader further commended the Director General of the City Boy Movement, Francis Oluwatosin Shoga, the National Women Leader, Ummusalma Rabiu, and the Deputy National Women Leader, Sophia Uzodimma, for their efforts in strengthening the women’s wing of the organisation nationwide.
She equally praised the Executive Governor of Enugu State, Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, describing his leadership as visionary and inclusive, with policies that continue to create opportunities for women and promote development across the state.
The leaders at the meeting also declared their readiness to mobilise women across communities in Enugu State ahead of the 2027 general elections, pledging to work collectively toward securing strong electoral support for President Tinubu.
As part of the next phase of activities, the women’s wing announced plans to embark on civic engagement campaigns, political education programmes, and community outreach initiatives aimed at sensitising women on government policies, particularly the Renewed Hope Agenda.
The leadership further disclosed that empowerment programmes targeting women across the state would soon commence to strengthen economic participation and encourage women to take active roles in politics and governance.
With the successful launch of its state structure and the formation of grassroots leadership across the senatorial zones and local governments, observers say the City Boy Movement Women Wing in Enugu State has begun a coordinated mobilisation drive aimed at expanding women’s political participation while consolidating support for the current leadership ahead of the 2027 general elections.
