BREAKING NEWS‼️Uche Nnaji Unveils Radical One-Term Agenda, Says “I Don’t Need Eight Years” to Serve
_Says leadership must be judged by impact, not duration; he promises economic revival, accountability, and people-centered governance in Enugu_
Chief Uche Nnaji (Nwakaibie), son of Chief Obed and Monica Nnaji of Amugo Village in Akpugo Town, Nkanu West Local Government Area, has declared his intention to serve Ndi only for a single term of four (4) years if elected Governor, sending a strong message across the political State at the moment.
“I will serve only for four years and hand over power to the next zone. I don’t need eight years to make impact,” Chief Nnaji stated.
His declaration has ignited fresh debate on the true meaning of good governance in a democratic society. According to him, governance should not be measured by how long one stays in office, but by the tangible improvements made in the lives of the people—especially the most vulnerable.
Chief Uche Nnaji emphasized that the vulnerable in society include underprivileged children, the elderly, persons living with disabilities and families struggling with poverty, lack of access to quality education not dilapidated mud, quality healthcare where my family can also access heathcare without traveling abroad and basic means of livelihood.
Describing his ambition as a rescue mission, he said:
*“I am coming to redeem Enugu people from ineffective, lefthander and burdensome governance. This is about restoring dignity, opportunity and hope.”*
Drawing from history, he pointed out that transformational leadership has never been about tenure but about vision and execution. He referenced the achievements of Sen. Jim Ifeanyichukwu Nwobodo, who within four years delivered major infrastructure and industrial projects that stimulated economic growth and employment. Sen. Jim Nwobodo in four (4) years built these without media noise or hype:
1. Anambra vegetable Oil Products (AVOP)
2. Enugu State University of Science and Technology - ESUT
3. Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu
4. Sunrise Flour Mill, Nachi, Udi
5. Ezillo Building Material Manufacturing Company.
6. Trans Ekulu Housing Estate.
7. Nike Lake Resort Hotel
8. Ikenga Hotels Ltd - Awka, Enugu & Nsukka
9. Ebonyi State University (EBSU)
10. College of Education Eha-Amufu (now Federal College of Education Eha-Amufu).
11. Anambra State Television.
12. Abakaliki Water Scheme
13. Rural Electrification for over 400 communities.
14. 33 Housing Estates
15. Greater Enugu Water Scheme.
16. Nsugbe College of Education
17. Metallurgical Factory, Ozubulu.
It's only those that ran out of experience or that are incompetent with being excessively greed that will always push to run for two terms.
He also cited Sen. Chris Ngige of Anambra, whose impactful administration within a short period of 2½ (two and half years) demonstrated that purposeful leadership can thrive even within limited time.
Chief Nnaji further highlighted his own track record as Federal Minister, noting his role in repositioning Nigeria and Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology within two years, an achievement he described as evidence of his ability to deliver results under clear timelines.
“My vision is simple: not to tax people to death, but to unlock Enugu State’s economic potential through innovation, industrialization and strategic use of our resources,” he said.
He stressed that governance must focus on improving productivity and living standards, insisting that true leadership leaves people better than it met them not the reverse of sending people back to village, or become okada driver.
Raising concerns about current governance in Enugu, Chief Uche Nnaji criticized the politicization of key processes such as Job recruitment, when there's no proper industry or place to fix them. It's only the inexperienced person that will propose employment process without creating proper areas to fixing them.
Calling on the people of Enugu State to make informed decisions, he urged citizens to look beyond sentiment and prioritize competence, integrity and vision.
“As a proud son of Nkanu, a unifier, an industrialist, an developer and a builder, I am committed to serving with courage and fairness. My promise remains firm, four (4) years of focused, transformational leadership and I will step aside,” he concluded.
