“Equity Brings Peace”: Eha-Amufu West Appeals for Inclusion in Isi-Uzo Leadership Arrangement
Eha-Amufu West Cries Out Over Political Exclusion, Appeals to Governor Peter Mbah for Justice and Inclusion
There was deep emotion and a strong call for fairness as stakeholders and concerned residents of Eha-Amufu West Development Centre in Isi-Uzo Local Government Area of Enugu State passionately appealed to Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah to intervene in what they described as years of political marginalization and exclusion within the council area.
In a heartfelt open letter addressed to the Governor, the people of Eha-Amufu West expressed appreciation for the remarkable leadership and developmental achievements of the Mbah administration across Enugu State, while respectfully drawing attention to what they termed an imbalance in the sharing of political positions in Isi-Uzo LGA.
The group commended Governor Mbah for his bold reforms, infrastructural transformation, improved security architecture, educational advancement, healthcare revitalization, and commitment to inclusive governance, noting that his administration has restored hope and confidence among the people.
According to them, the appeal became necessary because Eha-Amufu West Development Centre has remained without any significant political office for over six years despite its loyalty, contributions, and peaceful disposition within Isi-Uzo Local Government Area.
They observed that major political offices within the council area have consistently been occupied by other development centres, leaving communities within Eha-Amufu West politically sidelined.
The stakeholders listed the current political structure within Isi-Uzo, stating that the State House of Assembly position has been zoned to Amanyi Development Centre which also occupies the position of APC Local Government Party Chairmanship position, while the Federal House of Representatives seat was allocated to Eha-Amufu East Development Centre. They further noted that Isi-Uzo Central currently occupies the Commissioner position, while the Local Government Chairmanship is also held by Eha-Amufu East.
Meanwhile, they lamented that communities under Eha-Amufu West Development Centre, including Agu-Amede, Amede, Ihenyi, and Isu, have remained without any meaningful political representation.
The emotional appeal questioned the continued exclusion of their people despite their commitment to peace and unity.
“Are we not still part of Isi-Uzo Local Government Area? Are we not brothers and stakeholders in the collective destiny of our dear local government?” the letter asked.
The stakeholders emphasized that their appeal was not intended to create division or tension, but rather to promote fairness, political balance, and inclusiveness among all sections of Isi-Uzo.
According to them, the essence of zoning is to ensure that every bloc feels represented and carried along in governance, warning that prolonged exclusion could create feelings of neglect among affected communities.
Referencing the Igbo proverb, “Eme nwata ka emere ibe ya obi adị ya mma,” the group stressed that fairness and justice remain critical ingredients for peace, unity, and political stability.
They passionately urged Governor Mbah, whom they described as a father to all, to graciously consider Eha-Amufu West Development Centre for the next Isi-Uzo Local Government Chairmanship position.
The stakeholders expressed confidence that such a move would not only restore hope and confidence among their people but would also strengthen the governor’s legacy as a leader who believes in justice, equity, and inclusive governance.
They concluded by praying for God’s continued guidance, wisdom, strength, and protection upon Governor Mbah as he continues to steer the affairs of Enugu State.
