NDC Elects Dr. Okafor Secretary In Enugu Congress
The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has elected former Enugu North Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Sebastine Chukwuebuka Okafor, as its State Secretary, alongside other members of the newly constituted State Executive Committee.
Dr. Okafor emerged on Monday during the party’s state congress held in Enugu, which produced a full complement of executives through a consensus arrangement agreed upon by party delegates.
Among those elected is a former House of Assembly candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 general election, Dr. Anih Johnpaul, who emerged as the State Chairman, alongside 28 other officials who will pilot the affairs of the party in the state.
According to reports, the State Congress Committee Secretary, Engr. The motions were moved by the Acting State Deputy Chairman and Acting Publicity Secretary of the party, Ambassador Chinachi Nnabuko Chibueze and Chuma Amadife.
In his address, Engr. Ogbanufe charged the newly elected leadership, particularly the State Secretary, Dr. Okafor, and other members of the executive, to galvanize support for the party and effectively manage its administrative and organizational structure.

He further urged the leadership to remain accessible, prioritize grassroots mobilization, and uphold transparency and accountability in party affairs.
Engr. Ogbanufe also called on the executives to strengthen party structures across wards and local government areas, ensuring that the NDC continues to grow as a formidable political force in Enugu State.
In his remarks, the State Chairman, Dr. Anih Johnpaul, thanked delegates for the confidence reposed in the new leadership and pledged to work closely with the State Secretary and other executives to reposition the party.
He assured of a leadership driven by fairness, inclusiveness, and commitment to the party’s ideals, while expressing gratitude to key national leaders of the party, including the National Leader, Distinguished Senator Seriake Dickson; the National Chairman, Senator Cleopas Moses Zuwoghe; the National Secretary, Barr. Ikenna Morgan Enekweizu; and the South East National Vice Chairman, Chief Teddy Obey, for their support.
