Awgu Speaks with One Voice: Support Grows for Gov. Mbah as G-17 Inaugurates Executives

 


The grassroots political mobilisation movement, G-17 For Peter Mbah, on Monday, 15th of June 2026, marks another major milestone in its statewide expansion drive as it stormed Awgu Local Government Area for the inauguration of its Local Government and Ward Executives, further consolidating support for the re-election of the Governor of Enugu State, His Excellency, Barr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The event which held at the Awgu Local Government Council Secretariat, attracted political stakeholders, community leaders, party faithful, women groups, youths, and supporters from across the eleven political wards of Awgu Local Government Area, witnessed a strong demonstration of support for Governor Mbah's administration and the G-17 grassroots mobilisation agenda.

A major highlight of the gathering was the official signing of the G-17 Endorsement Register by the Executive Chairman of Awgu Local Government Area, Hon. Uchenna Joseph Okolo, following its presentation by the Convener, Board of Trustees Chairman, and Director-General of G-17 For Peter Mbah, Hon. Dr. Chinedu Mbah.

Addressing the gathering, Hon. Okolo warmly welcomed the G-17 delegation to Awgu and described the organisation as a formidable grassroots political structure with a unique reach and presence across communities unlike any other support group he has encountered.

The council chairman noted that the group's organisational capacity, commitment to grassroots mobilisation, and widespread acceptance among the people distinguish it from other political support platforms operating within the state.

According to him, G-17 has evolved into a strategic political force capable of effectively mobilising support for Governor Peter Mbah and ensuring the consolidation of his achievements through a second term mandate.

"There is no other support group like G-17. Its structure is organic, its membership is grassroots-based, and its reach cuts across every community. The movement has proven that it is not merely a political organisation but a people-driven platform committed to sustaining good governance," he stated.

Hon. Okolo pledged the full support of his administration towards the actualisation of Governor Peter Mbah's political aspirations in the 2027 elections, assuring the leadership of G-17 that the group would be fully carried along in all political activities within Awgu Local Government Area.

The chairman further commended Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah for what he described as remarkable developmental achievements across the state and particularly in Awgu Local Government Area.

He cited the construction of Smart Green Schools, Type-C Primary Healthcare Centres, road infrastructure projects, and other critical interventions that have positively impacted the lives of residents.

According to him, Governor Mbah has demonstrated uncommon commitment to governance and development, making him deserving of the overwhelming support of the people.

Also speaking during the event, the Awgu Local Government Coordinator of G-17 For Peter Mbah, Prince Charles Uzochukwu, expressed gratitude to the state leadership of the movement for extending the mobilisation structure to Awgu.

He assured the Convener and stakeholders that the newly inaugurated executives would immediately commence grassroots engagements across the local government area.

Prince Uzochukwu pledged to work closely with the ward executives and polling unit canvassers to ensure that mobilisation efforts penetrate every community, polling unit, and ward in Awgu.

"Our mobilisation will not stop at the ward level. We shall move from polling booth to polling booth, from village to village, and from household to household to ensure that the message of continuity and good governance reaches every voter," he assured.

In her remarks, the National Women Leader of G-17 For Peter Mbah, Hon. Princess Chinelo Ogbata Ejorh, commended Governor Peter Mbah for implementing policies and programmes that have directly impacted women across Enugu State.

She noted that women remain among the greatest beneficiaries of the governor's administration, particularly in the areas of healthcare, education, economic empowerment, and social welfare.

The women leader therefore called on women across Awgu Local Government Area to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards and actively participate in the electoral process.

According to her, supporting Governor Peter Mbah's re-election would guarantee the continuation of programmes and policies that have improved the lives of women and families throughout the state.

"Women have benefited immensely from this administration. The governor has shown through his actions that he understands the needs of women. We must therefore mobilise massively, obtain our PVCs, and support his re-election so that the good work can continue," she stated.

Delivering the keynote address, the Convener, Board of Trustees Chairman, and Director-General of G-17 For Peter Mbah, Hon. Dr. Chinedu Mbah, thanked the people of Awgu Local Government Area for their unwavering support for Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah and his administration.

Dr. Mbah disclosed that Awgu Local Government Area has benefited from over ₦22 billion worth of projects under Governor Mbah's administration, making it one of the major beneficiaries of the governor's development agenda.

According to him, each of the eleven political wards in the local government has received projects worth over ₦2 billion, a feat he described as unprecedented in the history of Enugu State.

He maintained that never before had any administration ensured such equitable distribution of development projects across wards and communities.

"This is the first time since the creation of Enugu State that a local government area has witnessed this magnitude of development spread across all its wards. Every ward in Awgu has benefited significantly from the developmental vision of Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah," Dr. Mbah stated.

The G-17 Director-General further declared that the people of Awgu have every reason to support the governor's re-election bid, given the visible impact of his administration across the local government area.

He described Governor Peter Mbah as the best-performing governor in Nigeria today, insisting that the governor's achievements in infrastructure, education, healthcare, transportation, digital economy, and economic transformation have set him apart from his contemporaries.

"As a matter of fact, Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah remains the best-performing governor in Nigeria today based on measurable results and visible achievements. His performance speaks for itself and the people can see the difference," he said.

Dr. Mbah charged the newly inaugurated executives to immediately embark on aggressive grassroots mobilisation and door-to-door sensitisation campaigns across Awgu Local Government Area.

He urged them to take the message of Governor Mbah's achievements directly to the people and ensure that every eligible voter is mobilised ahead of the 2027 elections.

"Our assignment begins today. Go from door to door, community to community, polling unit to polling unit. Tell the people what Governor Mbah has done and why continuity is necessary. We must work together to ensure a resounding victory in 2027," he charged.

The inauguration of the Awgu Local Government and Ward Executives marks another significant milestone in the continued expansion of the G-17 statewide grassroots structure and further strengthens the movement's presence across the seventeen local government areas of Enugu State as preparations intensify for the 2027 general elections. 

Recall that G-17 For Peter Mbah recently inaugurated its structures in Enugu East and Aninri Local Government Areas, where political leaders and stakeholders openly endorsed Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah's second-term bid and signed the group's endorsement register. The movement has also continued its ward-to-ward endorsement and mobilisation campaign across the state, targeting massive grassroots participation and voter engagement ahead of the 2027 elections.
