Enugu State Government Approves Election of New Traditional Ruler For Mburubu Community

  The Enugu State government has given approval for the election of a new traditional ruler for the Mburubu community, scheduled for tomorrow, February 28, 2025, at the Community Primary School in Mburubu. The announcement was made in a letter dated February 25, addressed to the President General of the Mburubu Town Union, High Chief (Hon) Emmanuel Sopuruchukwu Edeh, by the Honorable Commissioner for Local Government, Rural Development, and Chieftaincy Affairs. The Ministry confirmed that the election would be conducted in accordance with the provisions outlined in the 2003 Mburubu Town Union Constitution and in compliance with relevant laws and constitutional requirements. This is in line with the court ruling, issued on February 12, 2025, which invalidated the claim of Mr. Jerry Patrick Onuokaibe to impose himself as the Igwe following his controversial election by a faceless group called the Mburubu General Assembly.

The Niger State Police Command has arrested three suspects for allegedly trying to buy a six-month-old foetus for ritual purposes. A 31-year-old man identified as Sunday Jimoh drowned in a well on February 22, 2025, at about 10:00 am while trying to retrieve his phone. The spokesperson for the state police command, CSP Omolola Odutola, who confirmed this to newsmen, said the incident was reported by Kabiru Aladeshayi Ayigbere, a resident of the Junction Area, Oja-Odan, who stated that he witnessed the deceased attempting to enter a well beside his shop. “Jimoh reportedly insisted on retrieving a phone that had accidentally fallen into the well, despite warnings against the dangerous act. A 27-year-old pastor was bitten by a Black Mamba during prayer in Hazelmere – KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. The incident happened on Saturday morning, February 22, 2025, while the victim was conducting a prayer next to a river. A member of the public contacted the Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) Operations Centre at approximately 06:41, requesting urgent medical assistance for the man. RUSA paramedics were immediately dispatched and located the male behind the Hazelmere Dam wall in Hazelmere. He stated that he was conducting a prayer next to a river when he was bitten by a large black snake on his left foot. The man was adamant that it was a Black Mamba. He displayed symptoms of neurotoxic poisoning and extensive swelling at the bite site. He walked a few meters from the river and sought assistance from security officers, who contacted RUSA for help.
