REVEALED! The Danger Of Tinubu’s Tax Reform To South-South & South-East

Image
The recently proposed tax reform bill, submitted by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (PBAT) to the National Assembly, has raised significant alarm, especially regarding the Value Added Tax (VAT) sharing formula embedded within it. This VAT provision, tucked away in the bill, has the potential to disproportionately benefit Lagos State at the expense of the entire Nigerian federation. Astonishingly, it appears that legislators and governors from the South-South (SS) and South-East (SE) regions have yet to fully grasp the repercussions of this provision, and to date, no comprehensive action has been taken by these leaders to counter its potential impacts. A Closer Look at VAT and "Head Office Syndrome" To understand the implications of this reform, one must first grasp how VAT functions in Nigeria. The Disparity of Justice: A Reflection on Recent Court Rulings in Nigeria - Akelicious

Image
The Abuja Division of the Federal High Court recently granted bail of ₦10 million to each of the minors detained during the #EndHunger demonstrations in August. Meanwhile, the Kuje Magistrates’ Court granted bail to Alex Ikwechegh, a member of the House of Representatives charged with assault and making threats to life, for a mere ₦500,000. These contrasting judgments highlight a glaring inconsistency in the application of justice in Nigeria, raising significant questions about the system’s integrity and its treatment of different classes of citizens. The decision to impose a substantial bail amount on vulnerable minors stands in stark contrast to the leniency afforded to a sitting legislator. This disparity not only reflects a troubling prioritization of political figures over the most marginalized in society but also underscores the systemic issues within our judicial framework. It raises the question: are we witnessing a justice system that favors the privileged, while the most defe
