Senate Moves Motion To Stop NLC Nationwide Strike Over Subsidy Removal
In response to the impending nationwide strike called by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) over the removal of fuel subsidy, the Senate took a significant step to prevent the industrial action from taking place. The Senate directed its leadership on Monday to engage in discussions with the Federal Government and the NLC to find a resolution and avert the strike. The NLC had issued an ultimatum to the Federal Government, demanding a reversal of the fuel subsidy removal, and threatened to commence the nationwide strike on Wednesday, August 2, 2023.
